Pacific Magazine 2025 invites readers to take an immersive journey
The latest issue of the award-winning Pacific Magazine is now on its way to students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members and others around the world.
The newest edition features compelling stories, including an alumnus who appeared on American Idol, the professor behind groundbreaking research featured in the , Pacific鈥檚 ongoing commitment to sustainability and other exciting milestones the university has reached this year.
This year鈥檚 theme鈥斺淎 Place for You: Celebrate the Student Journey鈥濃攁mplifies student voices and experiences by weaving them throughout the magazine in new ways, including an op-ed and first-person narrative written by students to reveal what it鈥檚 like to be a student at Pacific.
鈥淚 really want people to understand and take away from the magazine that is really putting the effort behind what we say we鈥檙e doing, and that is centering all actions around supporting students,鈥 said Chief Communication Officer Sallie Poggi. 鈥淚 want our alumni and our donors and even our staff to understand and recognize and see themselves in those efforts. And for our students, I want them to see themselves reflected in this edition.鈥
The magazine鈥檚 main feature, Journey to Pacific, offers a look at the myriad pathways and experiences that lead students to Pacific. Spanning students from multiple disciplines and all three campuses, the feature explores what brings people to Pacific and what keeps them here.
The magazine also highlights developments in research, campus happenings and projects, alumni news and Tiger traditions and memorializes the legacy-leaving Pacificans who passed this year.
鈥淭he thing that I want our readers to feel this year, particularly our student readers, is the feeling of being seen. It doesn鈥檛 matter where you came from or how you got to Pacific, your stories are valued,鈥 Senior Director of Creative and Visual Content Nico Barredo said.
2024 marked the inaugural digital component of the print magazine, including a first-of-its-kind interactive version available online. This year, Pacific Magazine Interactive expands that initiative with an engaging choose-your-own-adventure component and an online pinboard.
The team was excited to build upon what they started last year, says Ryan Walters, senior director of digital communications.
鈥淭he interactive features we鈥檝e created invite our readers to become part of the story by them to hear from鈥攁nd journey with鈥 the same students they read about in Pacific Magazine,鈥 Walters said. 鈥淲hat鈥檚 more, the online nature of these interactive stories allows us to spread Pacific鈥檚 storytelling to a national and international audience.鈥
The immersive experience allows readers to forge their own journey to Pacific by stepping into the shoes of real Pacific students. Readers are presented with decisions a student must make when choosing a college. With each decision, they meet a student who made the same choice on their own journey to Pacific.
Pacific Magazine Interactive also includes an immersive pinboard, 鈥淏eloved Traditions.鈥
The Pacific community can add content to the board and commemorate their favorite Pacific traditions on the interactive platform.
